The sea runs through this developing body of work though nowhere is it actually visible. Fishing boats are everywhere yet no fish are harmed. Wee ships are built, bigger boats depart for destinations unknown. Sailors pose, words spill and old wounds are salted. Paper boats nod respectfully to the playfulness of George Wyllie. The work of Ian Hamilton Findlay and the model ships that sail through my home are as great an influence as are the North Sea and the harbours that border it. Memories both real and imagined lie just below the surface. A voyage of sorts is ongoing…
